Eastern Pines Church was started with a dream in 1979.

During the first meeting, October 22, 1980, a coffee can

holding rusty bolts served as the first collection plate.

Today, our new sanctuary holding up to 500 people is

complete and we look forward to outgrowing

this building as we continue our journey set before us to

Love God, Love Others and Serve Both

What We Believe

God

We believe that God is the sovereign Creator and supreme authority over all things (Genesis 1:1–3; Deuteronomy 4:35). He is eternal, unchanging, and exists as one divine Being in three distinct yet unified persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and coeternal, working together in perfect harmony as one true God (John 1:1–5, 14).

God is both infinite in power and deeply personal in nature. He is the beginning and the end, the Almighty who reigns over time and eternity (Revelation 1:8). As the source of all life, truth, and righteousness, God reveals Himself to humanity through His creation, His Word, and most fully through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit (John 10:30; Philippians 2:10–11). He took on human flesh and entered the world through the miracle of the incarnation (John 1:14). Though fully human, He lived a sinless life, demonstrating perfect obedience and righteousness (Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22).

Out of love for humanity, Jesus willingly gave His life as a sacrifice on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins (Romans 5:8). On the third day, He rose from the grave, conquering sin and death, and now sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, having completed the work of redemption (Hebrews 1:3). One day, He will return in glory to reign as the sovereign King over all creation (Philippians 2:10–11).

Holy Spirit

At our church, we believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Helper, fully God, and equal with the Father and the Son (Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7). The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force but a personal presence who dwells within every believer at the moment of salvation (Romans 8:11; Ephesians 4:30). Jesus promised the Spirit as our Advocate, Comforter, and Guide (John 14:16–17; John 16:7, 13), and through Him, we are empowered to live the Christian life.

The Spirit gives us new life (Romans 8:11), reveals God’s truth and wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:10–12), strengthens us (Ephesians 3:16), and cultivates godly character (Galatians 5:22–23). He also distributes spiritual gifts to every believer for the purpose of building up the church and advancing God's mission (1 Corinthians 12:4–7). We believe the Holy Spirit is active, personal, and present—helping believers become more like Christ and guiding them in all truth.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under the divine guidance of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21). It is God's revelation of Himself to humanity and serves as the ultimate authority and source of truth for Christian belief and living (Psalm 119:105).

Because the Scriptures are inspired by God, they are completely trustworthy and without error in their original manuscripts (Proverbs 30:5). The Bible teaches, corrects, equips, and encourages believers, showing us how to live in a way that honors God and brings life (Hebrews 4:12). It is not just a historical record or moral guide—it is alive and active, shaping the hearts and minds of those who follow Christ.

The Bible speaks with the authority of God, revealing His will, His character, and His plan of redemption through Jesus Christ. We believe that Scripture is to be read, studied, and obeyed as the foundation for spiritual growth and faithful living (Joshua 1:8; James 1:22).

Humanity

We believe that all people are created in the image of God, designed to reflect His character and live in relationship with Him (Genesis 1:26–27). Humanity is the crown of God's creation, made to worship, glorify, and enjoy fellowship with Him (Psalm 8:4–6; Isaiah 43:7).

Though each person has great value and potential for good, we are all affected by sin—an attitude and condition of disobedience toward God (Romans 3:23). This sin nature separates us from a holy God and brings spiritual death (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 6:23). Apart from God’s grace and salvation through Jesus Christ, this separation is eternal.

Despite our brokenness, God’s love remains. He longs for every person to be restored to the right relationship with Him through faith in His Son (John 3:16–17; 2 Peter 3:9). Our identity, purpose, and hope are ultimately found in the One who made us.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, offered through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 6:23). Because of sin, all people are spiritually separated from God, and no amount of good works, personal effort, or moral living can restore that relationship (Titus 3:5; Isaiah 64:6).

Only through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can we receive salvation and be saved from the penalty of sin (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Salvation is by God’s grace and is received through a faith response that includes believing in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Jesus as Lord, and being baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3–4;    1 Peter 3:21). In baptism, we are united with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, and we rise to walk in newness of life. It is in this obedient response that we accept God’s gift of salvation and are added to His church.

Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus in faith and obedience. Through this new birth, we are made new, adopted as children of God, and begin a lifelong journey of growing in Christ (John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

Eternity

We believe that every person was created to exist forever. Humanity will either spend eternity separated from God because of sin or in eternal union with God through forgiveness and salvation (Matthew 25:46; Romans 6:23).

To be eternally separated from God is what the Bible describes as Hell—a place of conscious, eternal separation from His presence (2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20:15). To be in eternal fellowship with God is Heaven, where believers will dwell with Him in joy, peace, and glory forever (John 14:2–3; Revelation 21:3–4).

Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. We believe that eternal destiny is determined by one’s response to Jesus Christ in this life (Hebrews 9:27; John 3:16–18). Those who accept God’s gift of salvation through faith, repentance, and obedience will receive eternal life. Those who reject it will remain in eternal separation.
